I visited El Alamo in 2019 on my way up north from Tarifa and you find those blogs here : El Alamo 2019, the town 🖱️ and El Alamo 2019, the nature 🖱️. The reason to stop there was simple : there are no campings nor hotels anyway in this area. So I took the worst-case assumption that I would have to wildcamp somewhere and that means that my 🍺 watersupply (so reaching a town) is critical. And that day's distance in 2019 to El Alamo was the max I could do anyway (and it was critical) plus there seemed to be a Bar Elena.
That time I rang a doorbell and asked for water and a suggestion for a place to camp and I was guided to a very nice field were I put up my tent. All in all I liked it so much here that I stayed 10 days. That's why I want to visit El Alamo once more ! Besides that this also fits perfectly in my mid-spain idea then back in 2019 I was forced by the bad weather to skip my criss-cross mid-spain plan and cycle (hurry) down south in a straight traject.

This time I cycled from the west and after 31kms and 591vms I finally reached El Alamo. It for sure was a 💦 tough day then back in 2019, coming from the opposite direction, I cycled 56kms and 665vms. So today I cycled "only" half of that distance but with almost the same amount of vertical meters. In other words, todays traject was almost double as steep typically.
The result of those vertical meters was that I made an 🐌 overall average of 3.4kmh during 9h00 (...) and a socalled moving average of 8.7kmh in 3h31. Was it the temperature of 50C at the tarmac at +1mtr ? Or is it 😁 my age getting a factor ?
I immediately inspected the fuente-field (the waterwell-area) and all was still oké. Second inspection was ofcourse Bar Elena but I couldn't find it at first instance. But someone 🔍 recognized me and knew immediatey what I was looking for haha. He guided me to my first beer of the day. The bar had moved to a location along the mainroad.
At the bar several people also recognized me and I felt I was welcomed by friends. Some time later, just 😁 before dark, I pitched my tent at the fuente-field, washed myself quite thouroughly ( in the dark, 🙈 nude) returned to the bar, had some very nice radlerbeers (cerveza con lemon)
and was then invited to join a punchparty just around the corner. That was at about midnight and the party ended at some 02h00. The reason for that rather early finish was that some unknown person drank all the punch 😋 while the rest was mainly chatting. Being able to do all this at such a long, demanding and tough day shows the positive influence of the mind.

However, yesterdayevening I had already gotten two invitations to come over to some peoples houses to stay at there place. And the next afternoon I went to the piscina to have a look (at a 🍺 beer haha) but was halted by Matilda. She is one of those two persons and had offered me to stay in her little but nice and comfortable summerhouse that is in the garden of her house. Also in 2019 did she offer me to stay there and it was so nice to be there. I sincerely hope I did not disappoint that other person and I also thank him very much for there offer.
Question was There was no question about her meaning that since she once more made her point
that I should come over immediately.
But it was far to calor (hot) to uninstall everything in a hurry but I took some personal stuff later that afternoon
and slept in a real bed that night.
With a nice ventilator at the ceiling watching over me.
Thank you so much Matilde !
At the bar I had asked Pepe and Ramon about the schedule of the mercado(s) on wheels that visit small towns like these every week, like this fruit- end vegetables-man does. They horn very loud when they arrive to wake you up haha. You actually don't need a car for your daily life in very small and remote places like El Alamo. All you need is rolling towards you haha.
Pepe instantly decided I should join them the next morning in his car to drive to Nerva to do some shopping.
The heightprofile shows you why you don't cycle over there and they knew that also.
So we took off and in the coche (car) it became clear that my way of travelling with my 67kgs
OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️
is more or less 🙃 idiot haha.
Once in Nerva we first had a good coffee (as it always is), then we walked along the weekly clothesmarket,
went to a bettingoffice (loteria) where Ramon won €50 and then we went to the El Jamon supermercado
where they waited for me very patiently.
Some 30 minutes I guess haha.
Which was also caused by the cassier who got a bit annoyed by me since I had not weighed my kiwis. Which2 was caused by the El Jamon itself since in Zalamea la Real one had to ask an employee to do that for you. That remark was not available here so I assumed they would weigh things at the counter. Not so. Then finally we returned, to have another coffeestop in El Madrono after which I and my groceries "etc" where delivered in front of my 🏰 new castle. Thank you so much Pepe and Ramon !
I was invited by Ramon and his wife Manuela to come over to have a nice tapasdiner and there friends Pepe and his wife Fina also joined us. That was a very nice and 😋 tasty evening, thank you so much !
But I started the camera for the timelapserecording but forgot to first take some pictures of all those nice and tasty tapas. By the time I realised that the camera was still running the timelapses and shortly after that the tapas were all finished. So no tasty pictures of the tomates, eggs, jamon, cheeses and bread and maybe that is 😉 better for you haha.
And as usual it was often cozy at the bar. Also since the mainroad is very quite, if you are lucky there might pass three cars all night ... All the other (three) cars stop here since it are inhabitants.
I removed the remaining parts of the straps that had wrapped themselfs around the rearwheelhub and into the brakecaliper at the day I cycled over here. I took the change to 🛠️ bleed the system since I knew there was a very tiny little bit of air in it, and I 🙃 don't like that. After re-installing and re-adjusting the caliperbracket all was oké again. The brake is braking very strong again and the handlefeeling is rocksolid.
Google-streetview by YesTrip.nl was at bar Elena haha.
To be continued, I have no idea how long I will stay in El Alamo this time.
